MEET KAy

In 1998 when our parish was seven years old, our Department of Family & Children’s Religious Education won a national award from the National Catholic Education Association. It was called the Mustard Seed Award and was annually bestowed on a parish that exemplified involving parents in the faith formation of their children. In the years since, this has been an important focus and challenge.

Sharing our faith values and traditions with our young people keeps our church vibrant and alive. Involving children and families in the life of the church and teaching true discipleship helps them build a loving relationship with Christ. At Prince of Peace we believe that religious education is a faith formation process that begins in the very early years of one’s life, and continues to be a life-long journey.

There are many examples in Scripture of people on a journey. . . the Israelites in the desert on their way to the Promised Land, the magi following the star to Bethlehem, and the Holy Family fleeing to safety in Egypt. Your family is on a journey too; a journey of faith development and it has brought you to Prince of Peace, just like mine did. The Elliott family relocated to Texas from Pennsylvania over 38 years ago and when our parish was formed, I knew this was where I wanted to be. I was hired when our parish was just three months old, and it has been a wonderful journey! I hope it will be for you, too. May God’s love, mercy and blessings be with you and your family always!
