Organization Profile: (summary of organization)   The Assistance Center of Collin County exists to serve the greater community by:

  • Providing people in crisis with information regarding agencies, non-profits and faith-based organizations to contact with for assistance.

  • Provide a job search program that meets every Tuesday during the day.  Call to let them know you are coming.

  • I Seek Employment program meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays in the evening.  Call the center at 972-422-1850.

  • Helping individuals and families with temporary financial assistance related to housing, utility payments and other emergency needs to avoid eviction and/or utility cut-off or to help with other needs as appropriate.

  • Providing individuals and families who are unable to meet their ongoing basic needs with counseling and education to enable them to become more self-sufficient.

  • Assisting other organizations by interviewing people to determine if they qualify for their programs.

  • Preventing homelessness.  They are the center for the Collin County Homeless Coordinating Program.  They provide transitional housing to the homeless in Collin County.  Contact the center at 972-422-1850.

  • Feeding the hungry

  • Providing tools for school

  • Providing information and referral

  • Providing hope for the holidays

Needs on an ongoing basis:  Donations of food for their food pantry and clothing for the clothing store; school supplies and backpacks, housewares.  Financial donations to help with utilities and rent.

Items the organization will not accept:  No furniture

Pick-up/Delivery/Storage Schedules if any:   Deliveries are accepted during office hours, M-F.

Seasonal Needs: (holidays; school year):   During Christmas season, toys; especially toys for older children.

Bilingual: Spanish speaking volunteers are needed.

Volunteer Needs:  Volunteers are needed for the Call Center and for the Front Office.  Since both require training,

the ACCA would like their volunteers to commit to a once-a-week, 3-4 hour shifts for at least six months.
