See what’s been happening around Prince of Peace Catholic Community!
This past week, our Adult Ministry team, Lauren and Michael, along with several dedicated parishioners, embarked on a spiritual journey to the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana. This event, a beacon of faith and community, brought together Catholics from all over the country to deepen their connection with the Eucharist and each other.
The Congress was a beautiful tapestry of worship, learning, and fellowship. Participants were moved by the powerful praise and worship sessions led by the Catholic Music Initiative, whose music lifted hearts and minds toward God. Adoration was a central part of the Congress, offering moments of profound silence and reverence in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. These sacred moments provided a space for personal reflection, prayer, and a deepening of one's relationship with Christ.
Throughout the event, attendees were inspired by an array of dynamic speakers. Jackie Angel’s engaging talks resonated with many, providing practical insights and spiritual wisdom. Fr. Mike Schmitz captivated the audience with his passionate and relatable messages, encouraging everyone to live out their faith boldly. Sister Miriam James Heidland shared her journey and profound reflections, touching the hearts of many with her authenticity and grace.
For Lauren and Michael, along with our parishioners, the Congress was more than just an event; it was a transformative experience. Lauren described it as feeling like "Catholic Disneyland," a place where the joy and excitement of faith were palpable everywhere. It reinvigorated their faith, provided new perspectives on the Eucharist, and fostered a deeper sense of community. They returned home filled with the Holy Spirit, eager to share their experiences and insights with our parish.
We are grateful to all who attended and represented our community. Their journey reminds us of the importance of continuous faith formation and the profound impact of gathering as a larger Catholic community. Let us continue to pray for the fruits of the Congress to grow within our parish, inspiring all of us to have greater love and devotion to the Eucharist.
Dear Friends,
Our Annual Shoe Ministry Drive ends next weekend, but unless we receive significantly more donations, we will fall short of our goal of $12,000. Last weekend, we collected $3100. Raising $12,000 would allow us to provide shoes or school uniforms to each student in three Catholic Elementary Schools---Santa Clara, St. Mary of Carmel, and Good Shepherd. Without extra help, their families would find it difficult to send their children to Catholic Schools. These schools provide a quality education in a safe environment allowing kids to reach their full potential in a Christ-Centered learning environment. Below is a quote from the Past Principal of St. Mary of Carmel:
The June 2024 Knight of the Month is Father Michael Forge. This award honors his support of the Knights of Columbus Council 11716 and the Catholic community of Prince of Peace as pastor.
