May Knight Family of the Month!

Knights of Columbus, Council 11716

Family of the Month, May 2024

Our Family of the Month for May 2024 is the Meagan and Tyson Theilen family, selected for their support of the Knights of Columbus Council 11716 and Prince of Peace Catholic Community through various works of mercy and faith.

Meagan and Tyson have been parishioners of Prince of Peace for about nine years. He joined the Knights of Columbus two years ago.

Together, the Theilens have four children including a daughter, Madeline, at John Paul II High School who will start her junior year in the fall, one son, Beau, entering sixth grade at Prince of Peace Catholic School, and two identical twin daughters, Paige and Parker, entering fourth grade also at POP.

At POP, Tyson is serving his third year of a three-year term on the Pastoral Advisory Council, where he serves as the liaison to the Finance Committee. He is also the head coach of the POP junior varsity football team which includes leading spring training and summer conditioning drills.

In addition, he headed up the recent Easter Egg Hunt at POP and has helped at a variety of activities such as Knights Bingo and Lenten fish dinners.

Beyond Prince of Peace, Tyson serves as a board member for the Frisco Football League and is about to start his 6th consecutive year as a head coach.

Megan has been a highly active member of the POP parent volunteer organization. She just completed her second year as K-8 homeroom team coordinator, making sure each homeroom has a room mom. Previously, she was a room parent for five years. She also volunteers for many activities at school ranging from teacher luncheons, Run For The Stars (the main PVO fundraiser) and volunteers during Grandparent’s Day and Field Day.

Apart from POP, Meagan is serving as a cotillion liaison for POP 6th grade students who participate in cotillion at Gleneagles Country Club. She also works as an infant teacher in the children’s learning center at Prestonwood Church for 8 years, two days a week.

The Theilen children are busy. Madeline served as captain of the JV cheerleading squad and will be on the varsity squad as a junior. She volunteers as a junior coach to a competitive team at Cheer Athletics in Plano who are comprised of mentally or physically handicapped athletes.

Beau loves sports and participates in football, track and basketball. Paige and Parker participate in competitive cheerleading and are involved in the Girl Scouts and play volleyball with other POP friends in the Plano Sports Authority.

The family traditionally attends the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass, and we are grateful for Meagan and Tyson and the ministry of parenthood they wear so well.
