Seminarian Eugene Undemba Named April's Knight of the Month!

Knights of Columbus, Council 11716

Knight of the Month, April 2022

The April 2022 Knight of the Month is SK Eugene Udemba. This Award recognizes Eugene’s service to the Prince of Peace Catholic Community.

Eugene has been in formation to become a priest for many years, starting in Rome at the religious congregation, Sons of Immaculate Conception, where he helped in educating the orphans and caring for the sick. Eugene continues to discern his vocation and got enrolled in graduate school at Liberty University in Virginia. After graduation in 2018, he moved to New Orleans where he completed his studies in Master of Arts in Theological Studies. It is there where Eugene joined the Knights of Columbus at St. Catherine Catholic Community in 2018, and he is a Fourth-Degree member.

During the summers, he had short assignments at St. Joseph parish in Richardson, at Mary Immaculate (where he first met Fr. Michael), at St. Gabriel and a short stay at Christ the King. His home parish is St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano.

Eugene has been at Prince of Peace for close to a year. His primary activities have included:

  • Teaching the seventh-grade class in the Young Church after the 12:00 Mass

  • Visiting various assisted living homes and distributing the Eucharist.

  • Visiting kids from the second, third and fifth grades from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Sundays to prepare for their First Holy Communion.

  • Joining the Saturday morning Men’s Group for Bible Study.

  • Visiting with POP school students during recess.

  • Teaching RCIA class

  • Visiting the Homeless on some of his days off

Eugene will be ordained a Transitional Deacon on April 23 and his assignment at Prince of Peace will end at the end of May.
Please join me in congratulating and celebrating the service of SK Eugene Udemba, the April 2022 Knight of the Month.
