KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #11716

Mission

The Knights of Columbus are founded on three principles: charity, unity and fraternity. The Knights of Columbus was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members of our community. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works.

What We Do:

At Prince of Peace, the Knights of Columbus serve our community in several different ways such as: Parish wide special events (Monthly Knights Breakfast, Lenten Fish Dinners, Anniversary luncheons and Dinners, etc), Lead PoP services and support (Knights Responders, Wheelchair Mission, Hike for Life, etc), Support to adopted charities (Easter Egg Hunt, Special Olympics, etc), Fundraising for special causes, Faith events, and also Fraternal Events for members.

KNIGHTS IN ACTION

Knight of the month

The January 2022 Knight of the Month is SK Steve Dillon.

Steve has been a member of Prince of Peace for 14 years.  He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1966 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at Purdue University.  He has achieved the Fourth Degree.

Steve prioritizes service projects such as helping with the removal of the chairs this past Sunday at the Prince of Peace church.  He regularly participates at the monthly Knights Breakfast and is an active member of Honor Our Heroes.  He is a supporter of the American Wheelchair Mission.

At Prince of Peace, Steve has been a long-time member of the Empty Nesters Group and is usually a host at the December Christmas event.  He is also active with the Outreach Committee and is a Eucharistic Minister.

Steve is always gregarious and greets with a broad smile.  And he enjoys the special times with some or all of his 10 grandchildren.

Knight Family of the month

Our Knight Family of the Month for November 2021 is John and Terri Gorman, selected based upon their service to the Knights of Columbus, to the Prince of Peace Catholic Community and beyond.

John has been serving the Prince of Peace Catholic Community as a deacon since his ordination in June 2018. In this role, he administers Baptisms, Funerals, Final Commendations, Grave Site services and delivers homilies monthly at the Sunday Masses.

John joined the Knights of Columbus at All Saints parish at the same time that his father joined, about 10 years ago. He also became a Third Degree Knight at the same time as his father. They became Knights as a way to help his father to become more involved with the activities of the parish. While at All Saints, John served on the Finance Council for 14 years and was the Chairman for three years.

John and Terri will have been married for 30 years as of February 2022. They have an adult daughter, Jessi, who lives in this area.

Terri continues to help at All Saints, where she is involved with the Funeral Reception Ministry and she is a Bible Study facilitator.

John is a Vice President of the Industrial Division at Holt Lunsford Commercial where he is involved with leasing, sales, and development of commercial warehouse facilities.

John and Terri Gorman, thank you for your service to the Knights, to Prince of Peace and beyond. And congratulations for being the Knight Family of the Month for November 2021.
